Gabriel Garcia Marquez: his life and his work

Journalist, novelist, storyteller, scriptwriter and editor, Gabriel Garcia Marquez (1927-2014) is mainly known for the magical realism of his novel One Hundred Years of Solitude. His interest in cinema and television led him to write scripts and to become a patron of the art form. His genius as a writer, as well as his political views, contributed to his fame. In 1982 he was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature for “his novels and short stories, in which the fantastic and the realistic are combined in a richly composed world of imagination, reflecting a continent’s life and conflicts”. The lecture is in Spanish.
