OFRENDA: Liliana Wilson's Art of Dissidence and Dreams
March 14 - April 30, 2015
Liliana Wilson’s drawings and paintings explore the power of complex emotions implicit in the human struggle for integrity. Many images in her art come from subconscious realities colliding on multiple levels while beauty emanates from her subjects. Much of Wilson’s work centers around children, and she notes, “my paintings reflect that moment either right before, or the exact moment, when innocence is shattered.” Through metaphorical and subliminal drawings, Liliana’s artwork touches upon issues such as abandonment, innocence, and dreamlike states. For Liliana, her drawings represent offerings or ofrendas of hope and beauty.
