2nd Saturday Convivio- Lerma's: El Corazon del Conjunto
Presented by Esperanza Peace and Justice Center
March 14, 2015
Join the Esperanza Peace and Justice Center and the Corazones de Esperanza at Casa de Cuentos for our monthly oral history gathering known as “2nd Saturday Convivio.” This month we will be sharing stories and learning about Lerma’s. Speakers include Susana Segura and Juan Tejeda. Built in 1942, Lerma’s opened for business in 1951. In 2010 the building risked demolition and was saved by community members; it is now under the guardianship of the Esperanza. Efforts are now in place to open it as a live music venue, a museum and a non-profit rental space. Also bring photos detailing life growing up on the Westside between 1890 and 1959 for our En Aquellos Fotohistorias del Westside Archive Collection. Free pan dulce and cafecito is available. This is a monthly event open to all ages.
