San Antonio Potters Guild 22nd annual Juried Exhibition

The San Antonio Potters Guild will be holding their 22nd Annual Juried Exhibition from June 5th through June 29th, at Centro Cultural Aztlan, located at 1800 Fredericksburg Rd, suite 103 in San Antonio, Texas. This year’s exhibition features the work of thirty, (30) Texas potters and ceramicists from the San Antonio area but also as far away Dallas\Fort Worth and Brownsville.
The San Antonio Potters Guild was established as a nonprofit organization in 1995. The membership is diverse, representing working potters, sculptural artists, and students, as well as supporters of the ceramic arts. The mission of the San Antonio Potters Guild is to provide a forum for the purpose of education and encouragement of its members and to promote public interest in ceramics. The 22nd Annual Juried Exhibition features Fifty three (53) unique works which were selected for display by this year’s juror Verne Funk. VERNE FUNK is a studio artist now living in San Antonio, Texas after a 40 year career in teaching, before retiring from Texas Tech University with Professor Emeritus status. Before Texas Tech, he was the Director of the School of Art at Bradley University in Illinois. He received an MFA from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. His clay work forms throughout the years have included tall totem dance figures, targets, heads, and the latest half-heads. Ideas are grounded in the human figure and the human condition. It is a sober humor that infuses much of the work, all of which reflect certain parts of his life. The opening reception, sponsored by the San Antonio Potters’ Guild, will be hosted at Centro Cultural Aztlan on Friday June 5th, 2015 from 5:30 until 8:30.
