Noche Azul: Serenate Mexicana - Un Homenaje a José Alfredo Jiménez

This month, Azul Barrientos will pay homage to José Alfredo Jiménez, a Mexican singer-songwriter of rancheras whose songs are considered an integral part of Mexico’s musical heritage. Jiménez composed more than 1,000 songs. Among his most famous are “Ella,” “Paloma querida,” “Media vuelta,” “El Rey,” “El jinete,” “Si nos dejan,” “Amaneci en tus brazos,” “Tu recuerdo y yo,” y “Camino de Guanajuato.” This celebration of José Alfredo Jiménez's work will also pay tribute to Mexico’s 16 de septiembre.

Noche Azul de Esperanza is our ongoing series of intimate cafe style performances with acclaimed singer/songwriter Azul Barrientos. Featuring a new theme and musical lineup each month, Noche Azul showcases traditional Mexican songs while highlighting the cultural influences and interconnections between latin America, Spain and Mexico. The songs and genres of Noche Azul have included boleros, rancheras, folk music, jazz, as well as electronic music.
