September 26, 2015
Join us on Sept. 26 at 7 PM as Josie Mendez-Negrete, Ph.D. reads from and discusses her new book, "A Life on Hold: Living with Schizophrenia." It is the personal account of her experience with her son, Tito, who has had a life-long struggle with schizophrenia.
This is the first memoir by a Mexican-American author to discuss this mental-illness. Mendez-Negrete uses Tito's lived experience as well as her own perspective as his mother to depict the evolution of the disease as well as illuminating the inadequacies of the U.S. mental health system.
