    DAPHNIS AND CHLOE
    Sebastian Lang-Lessing, conductor
    D’Drum, percussion ensemble

    Stewart Copeland     Gamelan D’Drum
    Ravel                       Daphnis et Chloé

Rock ’n’ Roll legend, founder and drummer of The Police, Stewart Copeland stretched his artistic wings with Gamelan D’Drum, with full orchestra supporting five percussion soloists playing drums assembled from different musical cultures around the world; at its 2011 premiere, “the audience fairly exploded” with excitement. Maurice Ravel referred to his masterly ballet score for Daphnis et Chloé as “a choreographic symphony.” This evening promises a full spectrum of thrilling orchestral color.

Sponsored by Martha-Ellen Tye Foundation in memory of Col. Joe B. Tye, Jr.
