LITERARY ARTS
Creating Memorable and Unconventional Characters for Film/TV
Presented by Gemini Ink Literary Arts Center
September 26, 2015
What constitutes a memorable character? How is film or TV writing different from writing a short story or a novel? Avoid the common mistakes writers make and get advice from an experienced film producer on conceiving truly memorable characters. Create personalities that both move the audience and drive the plot of a screenplay forward. Writing exercises, screenings of film scenes, and lessons on how to pitch current projects are all part of this dynamic screenwriting workshop.
Marilyn Atlas’s many film credits include HBO’s award-winning Real Women Have Curves, and Texas International Film Festival Winner Echoes. Committed to promoting diversity in her projects, Atlas is a member of the National Association of Latino Independent Producers and Cofounder of the Women in Film Luminas Committee.
