San Antonio Symphony: Brahms Piano Concerto No. 1

Sebastian Lang-Lessing, conductor | Norman Krieger, piano

    Brahms                 Piano Concerto No. 1
    Detlev Glanert       Three American Preludes
    Schumann             Symphony No. 4

**UPDATE: Unfortunately, due to an unforeseen illness, guest pianist Peter Serkin has cancelled his appearance with the San Antonio Symphony for this weekend’s Symphony Brahms concert. As his replacement, we have commissioned the great pianist Norman Krieger who has agreed to take on the performance as scheduled. Program will remain the same.

Brahms’s trusted friend and mentor Robert Schumann wrote his Symphony No. 4 in D-minor in 1841 but continued to revise it until 1851, as the phantasmagoric states of mind which accompanied his descent into madness took hold.
