    Sleeping Beauty

The Children’s Ballet of San Antonio (CBSA), announces its debut spring performance of Sleeping Beauty, an enchanting and dazzling performance that promises to entertain all ages!

To commemorate their inaugural year, CBSA is performing one of classical ballet’s most time-honored productions. Sleeping Beauty is based on the Brother’s Grimm version of this classic fairy tale in which the beautiful Princess Aurora is cursed by the evil fairy Carabosse to sleep for 100 years, but then saved by the Lilac Fairy’s spell, which allows to her to be awakened by true love’s kiss.  In 1889, Russian composer Peter Ilyich Tchaichovsky completed the music for this ballet, a prologue and three acts. CBSA’s production will be based on the original choreography by Marius Petipa, which was premiered by the Imperial Ballet in St. Petersburg, 1890.

In this lively, charming production, Puss ’n Boots, Little Red Riding Hood, the Wolf, White Cat, Cinderella, and Bluebird are all in attendance to amuse the court. Consistent with CBSA’s high standards and commitment to first-class productions, this performance features award-winning local and national/international dancers, as well as amazing scenery and props.

This is the second performance for the Children's Ballet of San Antonio, a non-profit organization that presents classical ballet by highly skilled dancers age 7 to 18, with multiple dancers recognized and awarded in U.S. and international events. Auditions for CBSA performances are open to all San Antonio students.
