Lourdes Perez and May Nasr in Concert
May 14, 2016
The ability of music to travel under bombs and across barriers joins two great voices from the Arab and Latin American worlds.
Join the Esperanza Peace and Justice Center for a rare concert with Lebanon’s May Nasr and Puerto Rico’s Lourdes Pérez as we celebrate the release of their full length Spanish/Arabic duet album and music video, "Written in Water."
May Nasr and Lourdes Pérez are considered musical icons and voices for peace in different worlds, oceans apart.
Lourdes’ Spanish version of “Ounadikum” (I Call To You), a song about survival and resilience by Lebanese songwriter Ahmad Kaboor found it’s way to May and their work together began in 2006.
The new album includes the song Te Llamo/Ounadikum with special guest Ahmad Kaboor, select songs by Lourdes translated to Arabic and songs by May translated to Spanish and a Spanish/Arabic version of Joan Manuel Serrat’s Mediterraneo.
There will also be a special guest performance by Eva Ybarra, conjunto music legend.
