    Pedro Valtierra: Imagenes en Conflicto

    The Consulate General of Mexico in San Antonio through its Cultural Institute in collaboration with FOTOSEPTIEMBRE presents this exhibit from September 7 until October 22, 2017.

     

    Pedro Valtierra: Imágenes en Conflicto, an exhibition that explores crucial chapters in the recent history of Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Panama, Haiti, and the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic through the lens of internationally acclaimed and eminent photojournalist Pedro Valtierra. The exhibition is composed of over 100 black and white photographs from Valtierra’s coverage as a war correspondent.  Valtierra is the founder of La Jornada newspaper and the Director of Cuartoscuro. Amongst his many awards and achievements, Valtierra is the recipient of the National Journalism Award (Mexico, 1983), the Silver Medal Award by International Journalists Organization of Moscow (Russia, 1986), and the prestigious Rey de España Award (Spain, 1998).

     

    As a part of the opening reception, there will be a conversations between Pedro Valtierra and Robert Rivard (Director of The Rivard Report) at 6 p.m. The Mexican Cultural Institute San Antonio is honored to exhibit selections from Valtierra’s portfolio that provide vital imagery to the history of Latina America.

     

    MCISA is always Free and Open to the Public Monday-Friday 9 a.m.-6 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Parking at the Tower of the Americas, S. Alamo Lot, and Martinez Lot. Free parking at Durango Lot after 6 p.m.

     

    Opening Reception: Thursday, September 7 from 5-8 p.m.
