    San Antonio Metropolitan Ballet’s mission is to provide a professional dance experience in a pre-professional setting. Our vision - Transforming people and ideas through dance.     SA Met Ballet, member Regional Dance America and sponsored in part by the City of San Antonio Department for Arts and Culture, trains dancers 9 and older in the following categories: Trainees, Apprentices, Junior Company, Senior Company and Artists in Residence. Annual season run August through May. SAMB presents an annual summer dance intensive with master teachers; two annual dance concerts: a fall storybook ballet and a spring mixed repertoire performance; weekly company classes and rehearsals on weekends; and collaborates annually with ARTS San Antonio in their production of "The Nutcracker."

    SAMB serves approximately 10,000 clients annually from company members to audience member to local Title I Students and Teachers in community outreach programs.

      San Antonio Metropolitan Ballet’s spring showcase, “Dance Kaleidoscope,” is always packed with goodies and the 2014 version, presented April 26 at the Carver Community Cultural Center, was no exception. If anything, there was even more to see and enjoy than usual.

      Given that the group is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, artistic director Susan Connally and associate director Karin Heiden decided to offer a mix of old and new works, plus a number of pieces featuring several guest artists. Collapse

      Saturday night’s “gala” performance — which closed the three-day Regional Dance America/Southwest Festival at the Municipal Auditorium — was indeed gala in the best sense of the word.

      Lots of good dancing, lots of energy and an abundance of imaginative choreography made it a fitting finale to the fest, which featured 23 companies from Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas and Oklahoma. Twelve of those, including the San Antonio Metropolitan Ballet which hosted the event, were showcased on the final night. Collapse
