Dedicated to the discovery and support of new ideas in the arts and arts education, Jump-Start's core programming includes original work developed by members of the artistic company; presenting and/or collaborating with local, national and international guest artists; and arts-based community education.

    Jump-Start is nationally known for its artistic excellence, and has produced and presented work by widely acclaimed artists including Maya Angelou, Sterling Houston, Sandra Cisneros, Paul Bonin-Rodriguez and Naomi Shihab-Nye. The company continues its commitment to progressive values and marginalized voices in its new, intimate studio space in the historic Beacon Hill neighborhood.

The hearing was one of several convened to determine whether the San Antonio Country, a local gay bar at the time, should be ruled off-limits to military personnel because it “catered to homosexuals.” Collapse
