Artist Statement of Work

Tell us about your work (style, approach, philosophy, subject and/or theme):

Making my work is a way for me to reflect on moments in my life and connect with a shared sense of nostalgia. I often find myself looking back through a childhood lens, remembering the wonder of everyday things. Whether it be traveling to an annual family reunion that inevitably featured a bizarre, albeit colorful and intriguing, ambrosia salad, or exploring the backyard with a friend, these ordinary moments now drive my creative work.

Because our minds naturally soften old memories over time, I translate these personal history pieces into slightly abstracted shapes. Bringing these stories to life through a vibrant, joyful color palette is essential to my process. By combining these bright colors with the tactile look of felt, embroidery, and beadwork, I hope to invite viewers to spark their own curiosity and look back fondly on their own favorite memories.
