I’ve always had an innate instinct for creative expression early in life when I would actively be part of choirs, dance teams, and writing clubs. When I stepped into adulthood, most of my invested time and efforts went into making visual arts. Working as an art educator with various art centers, public schools, and communities I continued to create and explore in making artwork for both expanding content knowledge to share with students and personal creative endeavor. I’ve won notable art awards, including 1st place in Neman Marcus Fashion Illustration Contest. I continue to create in my main concentration of illustration, currently working on publication of a collection of illustrated stories at my home studio while also creating artworks to exhibit for local galleries and community commissions in San Antonio. Currently, my artwork is displayed at Blue Star Arts Collective studio located in Southtown’s district Blue Star Art Complex. Upcoming this year, I plan on displaying new artworks at Blue Star Arts Collective of different mediums during the monthly shows and planning a solo exhibition in November of this year called “Party at the Necropolis”. Artist Statement of Work

Tell us about your work (style, approach, philosophy, subject and/or theme):

For as long as I’ve been conscious of myself, I’ve seen my life torn between two battlefronts. One front facing an outer world and the other facing an inner world. To this day, my view of these inner and outer worlds has shaped what I see myself living, a half-life. Two halves to deal with; both fronts that I have to manage and find balance with. Turmoil can happen any time in both worlds, the reason I seek remedy through creation. Creation makes the two halves whole. It gives these worlds a purpose. I take these worlds into myself, my origin, looking to ascend long fought battlelines, turmoil, and the silence of secrets. From a waking moment to the time my mind drifts away, I see creation as what I was meant to make happen, any way possible, till my hands grow cold.       ~Ana A. Jimenez To the Inner World
