Artist Statement of Work

Tell us about your work (style, approach, philosophy, subject and/or theme):

In my work I aim to introduce the audience to my world through storytelling. Whether that be teaching a workshop, competing in a poetry slam, curating a playlist for a DJ set or collaborating with community leader. I am inspired to give unique perspective and outlook on the lives we live and how we interact as human beings on this planet. I believe that we can all learn from just listening to each other and what better way to share than through the arts, music and spoken word. A great deal of my style revolves around my experience, my family and the roots that are my foundation grown right here on the Eastside of San Antonio and extended to Detroit, MI where I was born and raised. These roots have given me the strength and perseverance to not just survive, but thrive and reach back to teach others what I have learned. This is the light that I want to share with the my audiences. The light of a life not lived to perfection but to fulfillment and the power that brings to you as an individual and to us all as a community.
