Hello, I am Anthony Garcia, aka Jojodancerphotos. I love my city and have been involved in the arts community for many years. I started off in the San Antonio music scene in the late 80s, both as a performer and a fan of local venues. I began dabbling in photography as a teenager and honed my skills photographing fellow musicians and live music events. I have a had a professional photo studio at Blue Star Arts Complex for several years where I shoot and show my own photographic work as well as host other artists/events. In 2022, I co-founded KPSA Radio where we spotlight and play local music 24/7.

Artist Statement of Work
Tell us about your work (style, approach, philosophy, subject and/or theme):
I am a portrait photographer fascinated with Chiaroscuro's interplay between light and darkness. By playing with the balance of light and shadow, I seek to capture that which dwells beneath the surface. Through collaboration and direction, I coax out what is not always visible to the naked eye, in what I can only refer to as a “Rock and Roll” aesthetic with dark tonalities, such as portraying women in power poses instead of a diminutive demeanor. I delve deeply into my subject’s personalities and pull them out of their comfort zones, taking them and the viewer on a personal reflection journey, and telling a story that takes them to another place. My work is about people and relationships, and I am a photographer who loves light and life.
