Hello there! My name is April Media, I am a multimedia artist based in San Antonio, Texas. As a Hispanic single mother born and raised in this city, I have a deep connection to the culture and community here. My passion is photography, and I love exploring the intersection of art and technology by incorporating computing and video/audio elements into my work.
These evocative images capture the ineffable love between a single mother and her son, while also poignantly reflecting the richness of their cultural heritage. Through powerful visual storytelling, these images speak volumes without the need for words or descriptions, leaving a lasting impression of the deep bond and cultural significance embodied in their story.
I had the wonderful opportunity to collaborate with a San Antonio Podcast, where my role involved discovering and featuring remarkable businesses that have proudly served their community for over a decade. I had the pleasure of conducting insightful interviews, and to complement the captivating stories, I also had the privilege of capturing them through my photography. This is one of those unique and inspiring stories.

I have always been drawn to the power of visual storytelling, and photography allows me to capture moments and tell stories in a way that words simply cannot. My work often explores themes of identity and community, and I am constantly pushing myself to find new and innovative ways to express these ideas. In addition to my photography work, I am also skilled in a variety of multimedia techniques, including video and audio production. I believe that these tools can be powerful additions to any artistic practice, and I am always looking for ways to incorporate them into my work. As a single mother, I understand the challenges that come with balancing personal and professional responsibilities. However, I am determined to continue pursuing my artistic passions and to use my work to make a positive impact in my community. Thank you for considering my application for the artist grant. I am excited about the opportunity to continue developing my skills and to create meaningful work that resonates with others.
