Averagekidd

I’m known as Averagekidd, but those who are closest to me refer to me as Alan. Im 25 years old and I was born in the beautifully diverse city of San Antonio by parents with considerable cultural differences of their own. Their contrasts in heritages serves as the context of how I ended up singing and playing the violin for various mariachi groups for over 7 years, garnering millions of views on YouTube as a online personality, and how I finally was able to free myself of the monotony of a 9-5  in order to pursue my passions in music, photography, and videography, all as a young African American male. Before I was conceived, my mother took a leap of faith by coming to America from her small town in Mexico with only a dream, her faith, and a young daughter to care for (Who is now my big sister). My father on the other hand is ex military and a part time musician, which not only helps to explain my musical background, but also how I came to be in the city of San Antonio, given that my father is from Omaha Nebraska but the military bounced him around the country. Blessed with curiosity and a restless urge to learn, I picked up playing the guitar at 8 years old and was hooked by the concept of music and creation ever since. Now in 2024, I was able to take the 17 years of experience I gained through practicing and performing as a musician, the 7 years of dedication towards being a top ranked salesmen, and all the character development and growth as a creative and businessman that came from the journey,  in order to now run my own studio/ label and social media marketing company that leverages my talents in editing, photography and videography. Inspired by my mother, I took my own leap of faith and quit my job as a salesman, and I now live my life strictly through creativity in all its beautiful colors and forms. From helping grow a YouTube channel from 300 thousand subscribers to 2.5 million in under 4 years, to being flown out of state to photograph the likes of Nick Cannon, Kevin Gates, and many more artists of the hip pop community, I now use my experience to not only tell my story, but also the story of those who inspired me along the way. My vehicles of choice include melodic vocal expressions, fluid writing/story telling, and inspiring connection through personality and speech. What fuels my passions is the idea of being able to retire my mother, who is now 66 and continuously works day in and out to support the family, through creative pursuits and the goal of sustaining a career that I truly enjoy. If you ask me, achieving my goals and dreams is not a matter of if, but when. I aim to inspire through action while unapologetically being myself along the way. My name is Averagekidd, and this is just the beginning.
