Caliente Hot Glass is a boutique glassblowing studio in San Antonio, Texas that focuses on the authenticity of the human experience through the creation and exhibition of fine glass art. As artists, we are each drawn to the meditative experience of working with molten glass and its glowing allure. Our multidisciplinary team is driven by the conviction that art serves as humanity’s most powerful advocate and source of wonder. With this ethos at the forefront, we see each project as a uniquely dedicated experience. We focus on creating original works of art that blend the aesthetic and style of the artist and client. We blow glass using as few mass production techniques and molds as possible in order to stay directly engaged with the glass to guide it into its final manifested form. It is both meditative and exhilarating to grapple with 2,000 degrees of energy. We love to embrace that moment, and turn it into a way to convey grace to the world. The very survival of each individual piece depends on a multitude of factors: the physics of energy, gravity, and tension; the strength and chemical properties of the materials; and, most importantly, the mindset of the team as the work plays itself out in our dance with the glass and each other. Such is the nature of creating glass art that much like in life, we must move with the reality of the moment. Perhaps we find glass so enticing because of the life lessons it teaches us: to stay sanguine in the face of adversity; to move as fast as possible without rushing; and to meld with a partner that has their own wants and needs. We relish every opportunity to work in new spaces, at different scales and scopes, and for a wide range of audiences. We are also honored by each wandering viewer engaging with our art while traveling their own path. Our journey as a studio finds its fuel in the community’s desire to experience glass. We seek to create grace through art, offering joy, wonder, and inspiration to our neighbors near and far.
