I am a Pennsylvania native, but have lived in Texas more than half my life. I moved to San Antonio in 2008 for a program called City Year, where I spent two years tutoring and mentoring at-risk middle and high school students. This was my first experience utilizing my artistic talents professionally, incorporating art into lesson plans for our After School and Saturday service learning programs. During the following decade, I worked first as the manager of a salon and spa at the Quarry, then as an animal care assistant at a local companion bird rescue and sanctuary. Though neither of those jobs were art related, I always found ways to use my creative talents in the workplace while continuing to develop my artistic skills at home. I also received an Associate’s degree in Business Administration during that time. In 2021, with years of self-taught art experience and a business degree under my belt, I started my art business under the name Created by Carly.
Artist Type: Visual Arts: Artisan, Craftsperson, Jeweler, Maker, Painter, Printmaker, Sculptor
When someone asks me to describe my artistic style, I usually just say "colorful." I love creating artwork that stands out on a wall and makes those that walk past it smile. I tend to gravitate towards animal portraiture as my preferred subject, but I take commission requests of all shapes and sizes! I paint almost exclusively with acrylics, and currently have painted works displayed for sale in two different Texas galleries. In addition to painting, I am also a budding jewelry designer and novice sculptor. In the latter part of 2024, I expanded my product line to include one of a kind jewelry made from upcycled materials and polymer clay.
