CATALINA GARZA, a distinguished dancer originally from Monterrey, Mexico, graduated from the Escuela Superior de Musica y Danza de Monterrey in 1990. She began her remarkable career with the Ballet of Monterrey and later joined the National Company of Dance in Mexico City. Catalina made her mark in the United States with The Joffrey Ballet of Chicago, portraying iconic roles such as Mr. Arpino’s Confetti and Light Rain, and Sugar Plum in Joffrey’s Nutcracker.

Her international career includes performances in Mexico, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, and Israel. Beyond performing, Catalina has excelled in teaching, directing, and choreography, with notable projects including Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Giselle, Beauty and the Beast, The Nutcracker Ballet, and Etudes. In 2010, she co-founded Quenedit Ballet School in San Antonio, TX, and in 2014, she co-founded and became the artistic director of Quenedit Dance Theatre’s non-profit pre-professional dance company.

As the leader of Quenedit Dance Theatre, Catalina’s impact on the world of dance in San Antonio is indomitable. Celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2024, the Nutcracker performance stands as a testament to her commitment to dance excellence.
