I began my journey into film production when I was a kid; discovering my love for cinema through routine visits to the movies with my parents. Since then I have pursued a career in self-expression through the motion picture. After writing plays and creating short films in High School, I went on to study Film Production at Howard University. Upon graduation I worked as an Editor and Associate Producer for an independent production company in New York, focusing on documentary films. I have also worked as an Instructor for institutions both in the US and abroad.

My interest for films that give an alternate representation of underrepresented groups also applies to my own community. Growing up in an African-American household, I rarely saw images in mainstream media that portrayed people that looked like me as having any history beyond the shackles of slavery and the challenges of discrimination. While in Africa I became an avid reader of documented oral histories of various pre-colonial societies. It is in these histories that a more exhaustive representation of the African-American community can be found. It is my belief, that as media professionals tackle the issue of diversity in storytelling, that we expand our understanding of what imagery we want to convey.
