Chris Sauter holds a B.A. from the University of the Incarnate Word and a M.F.A. from The University of Texas at San Antonio. He has exhibited across the United States, Mexico and Europe. His works have been featured at many institutions such as The Kohler Art Center; the Musee d’Art Moderne Saint-Etienne, France; The Drawing Center, NY; Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art; the Contemporary Art Museum, Houston; the Dallas Museum of Art; and PS1, New York. Sauter has been a resident artist at the Künstlerhaus Bethanien, Berlin and Artpace, San Antonio. He is the Chair of Painting and Drawing at the Southwest School of Art. Drawing from varied sources such as agriculture, history, science and religion, and working across genre, his work explores the links between biology and culture, the present and the past, the personal and the universal. He decorates cakes and designs and performs in Cornyation in his spare time.
