Claudia Galvan is a writer from San Antonio, Texas. She is originally from Nicaragua. After completing her military service in the U.S. Army. She decided to make the City of San Antonio her home, as she considers it  a joyful and colorful place. Claudia attended the University of Texas at San Antonio School of Social Work and graduated with a master’s degree. She specializes in community work  in the field of education and mental health awareness.  Claudia is the president of Heart’s Connections a non profit organization that promotes literary arts such as writing, reading, poetry and theater. Mrs. Galvan is passionate about her work with highschool and college students who aspire to go into scriptwriting, marketing, entrepreneurship, design and production. She has been consulted for Biblical script writing of the Old and New Testament in Latin America.  Claudia is married to Mario Galvan Sr. her friend and colleague. She is a mother to four amazing children.

Tell us about your work (style, approach, philosophy, subject and/or theme):

Claudia's  most recent work, From Orphans to Children, Discovering the Heart of a Father. Is considered a tool to begin a journey of inner healing and identity, discovering in the process the heart of a Father who is  always present, with inexhaustible love ,without judgment, without blame and with all the will to heal and connect hearts.  Considered a curriculum for some organizations in Latin America, her book covers topics such as: -The importance of parents present at home (cultural competent practices, immigration)  -The difficulties experienced by single parents (interviews with San Antonio Fathers) -Toxic relationships between mothers and daughters. -Honoring our Parents: healthy boundaries. -Parenting styles and the effectiveness of exercising authority with love and firmness. - Self-esteem and identity. -10 ways to tell our children that we love them. -Forgiveness and Healing. From Orphans to Children, Discovering the Heart of a Father is available in English and Spanish.  Claudia is passionate about social work, she considers everyone's life experiences unique and deserving of respect without judgement. She has zero tolerance towards hate, violence and discrimination. She advocates for children, women, veterans, survivors of domestic violence  and youth  seeking  essential tools to be successful in life. She tells her story in her book and how the importance of healing, a sense of belonging, love, respect, faith, family and education were essential tools for her success. She speaks from her experiences in 1980's during the war in Nicaragua, growing up without her parents during early childhood and eventually moving to the United States. Her new project involves writing about culinary traditions of the Latino community in San Antonio, while creating awareness about respecting accessible spaces designed by the city for those who need mobility accommodations.  For more information on her work please contact the number listed.
