C.M. Bratton is a multi-award-winning writer from San Antonio, TX. C.M. has been a writer for several film projects, including Sanitarium the Movie, and the O.B.E., which won several script awards and was recently published as a mini comic series through Antarctic Press. A member of the Texas Association of Authors, C.M. has also published thirty books and a solo comic series. In addition, C.M. enjoys writing exploratory plays, and currently is under contract for a new historical show.

C.M. received her B.A.s in Theatre Arts & Spanish from Yale University, an M.A. in Drama from Texas Woman’s University, and an M.F.A. in Creative Writing for Media Arts from Full Sail University, for which she was also the Valedictorian and Advance Achievement Award Recipient.

C.M. currently teaches acting and playwriting with Seniors in Play with Tony Plana, as well as writes curriculum for the non-profit. She’s also working on several writing projects, including her new play Tamales for the Holidays, a new historical play, and a new horror film. Along with teaching and writing, she’s also performing on tour with the Magik Children’s Theatre and is a Resident Actor at The Public Playhouse. Artist Statement of Work

Tell us about your work (style, approach, philosophy, subject and/or theme):

With an intense focus on character-driven stories, C.M. explores how people react in unexpected and extraordinary situations. CM. excels at writing sci-fi, fantasy, psychological thriller, historical, drama, and satire. C.M. is also a strong researcher and editor, with excellent mastery of craft and structure. C.M. enjoys the challenge of jumping between academic writing, technical writing, and creative writing, whether working on a play, book, film, or even poem.

As a Mexican-American, C.M. remains passionate about the Latine experience. She loves to infuse her work as a writer, designer, and performer with her experiences growing up in southern Texas, whether performing as a mariachi, eating traditional Mexican cuisine, or celebrating indigenous arts and culture. This inspired her current trend of creating original designs inspired by Mexican papel picado, which has resulted in nearly 140 new designs over the last two years.
