I have been a resident in San Antonio for 44 years. I graduated from UTSA with a BFA in 1996. My artwork revolves around the notion of integration and unity. My latest solo exhibit was at Flight Gallery April 2022 titled “United Collective” featuring a wall of 540 ceramic life masks cast from local San Antonians. I was a feature artist for the McNay Museum of Art for their 60th anniversary show. My work has been published in three major textbooks including: “Criticizing Art: Understanding the Contemporary #3” – McGraw Hill, “Chicano Art for our Millennium” “Triumph of our Communities” – Bilingual Press, as well as the Cow Parade San Antonio and the cover of the Art Collection of the South Texas Blood and Tissue Center.

Artist Statement of Work

Tell us about your work (style, approach, philosophy, subject and/or theme):

I am a multimedia artist accomplished in painting, ceramics,
sculpture, plaster casting, and more with a career spanning more than
3 decades. My artwork revolves around the notion of integration,
merging mediums, and styles to create meaningful thought-provoking
compositions. My Summer of 2023 abstract painting series is about
letting go of constraints which led to a strong body of highly detailed
yet free pieces. The past large-scale installations of ceramic masks
from face casts of San Antonians have been an epic and rewarding
endeavor speaking about the unification of people from all walks of
life who are diverse yet intrinsically the same. I have produced
artwork nonstop for many years, much of it cataloged on the first and
art archive pages of my website.
