Hailing from San Antonio, TX, Debra Elana is a former school teacher turned full time singer songwriter/performer .

Shortly before graduating with her Bachelor’s Degree in Music from UTSA, Debra Elana released her first EP, Call and Response in 2010. In 2012 she accepted a position at Sam Houston High School as the Choir Director. Two years later she released the album, Out of Nothing while still balancing her teaching career. At the end of 2016 after prayerful consideration, Debra Elana decided to pursue full time ministry as a performer and left her teaching position. She completed her Master of Arts in Music at Liberty University and released her second EP, Late Nights, Early Mornings in 2017.

Debra Elana made her musical theatre debut in the Ennis Public Theatre 2018 production of Little Shop of Horrors, and performed in SeaWorld San Antonio’s 2018 and 2019 Christmas Celebration, Shamu Christmas: Miracles.  She appeared in 2020 as a series regular in season 3 of My Big Fat Li(f)e, a Black web series. Debra Elana released her second full length album, Everyday Voyage to Venus in 2019. Her latest offering, an EP of love inspired songs entitled, Experience, released in early 2021.  Experience  is available now on all digital streaming platforms.

Debra Elana is currently performing as Motormouth Maybelle in  Woodlawn Theatre’s production of Hairspray. She hopes to dive deeper into the musical theatre scene in 2022.
