Introducing, Desire Torres, a San Antonio native and longtime pioneering Latina fashionista who is a trailblazer for fashion in South Texas. Desire, also known as Des, has held a long-time passion for fashion and has been sharpening her eye for design for almost a decade. Des is a single mother of two, but that hasn’t kept her from playing a highly active role in the local and national fashion scene. Her brand Desja Chanel inspired by her daughter, Desja, who was diagnosed with Autism at the young age of 2, has long encompassed all the qualities Des has long seen in her daughter’s fight against being on the spectrum: STRENGTH, BOLDNESS, COURAGE, and POWER. Strength to dress how you feel. Boldness to wear any and all colors and pattens. Courage to wear it proudly, and power to feel beautiful in whatever garments you chose. In 2011 Des’s professional fashion career took off while she was living in Chicago. She was brought on to be the wardrobe costume designer for the movie, The Lies We Tell but the Secrets we keep in. In 2012 another opportunity presented it’s self when she was hired as a wardrobe stylist and assistant producer for another film called, Girls Like Us. After finding success in her fashion roles on set for both films Des then managed to produce and direct her first fashion show, Taking Over The Runway.
