Artist Statement of Work

Tell us about your work (style, approach, philosophy, subject and/or theme):

"There can be no love without justice" -bell hooks

Everything I create, I do with love. Love for self, love for my communities, love for everything beyond and in between. I share my work and words to show that love does not always look nice and proper. Love does not always fit the status quo. It is messy, it is bloodstained, it is brave and fierce just as often as it is soft and gentle. My love can look like a hug and a held hand, or like chanting in the streets while fighting for human rights. I know how to whisper love and how to shout it from mountaintops. And I know both are necessary to help build the future I hope to leave behind for my son and the generations that follow me through this world. My artistic philosophy is a delicate balance of "do no harm" and "take no s***". The goal of my work is to honor every part of myself and the worlds that intersect within me, and hopefully commune with similar souls in the process.
