Artist Statement of Work

Tell us about your work (style, approach, philosophy, subject and/or theme):

Domeinic Jimenez (b.1994 San Antonio) is an interdisciplinary artist whose work is guided by questions of audience, authenticity and the construction of cultural and personal identities. In his studio practice, Jimenez works with photography, video, sculpture and collaboration to explore created spaces which activate memory, nostalgia, sensitivity and reflection to explore constructed identity. While Jimenez’s work is often a playful tribute to the communities and spaces that shaped him, his work aims to raise a mirror to itself and question these spaces and the impact they hold on individuals through a collective memory.

“I find myself becoming increasingly interested in the body and how one wears trauma, memory and identity. Through the exploration of these themes, I look to uplift intimate and private experiences and create spaces for these moments to be shared.”
