My Beginnings

Born in Del Río, TX on November 5, 1986, Edgar Alberto is the son of José Maria Pérez (radio host and musician) and Alejandrina Pérez (singer). He grew up surrounded by microphones, musical instruments, and records. At the age of 13, he developed a love for music. His parents had a studio outside their house where his mother practiced for her Mexican music shows. One day, he approached the studio and asked to sing a song he loved, “Cien años.” Upon hearing him, his parents realized that he had talent but needed refining. With a lot of patience from his parents and the help of local music teachers, he received the necessary training to make his debut alongside his mother in front of approximately 200 people on September 15, 2000, at the Mexican restaurant Mi Tierra in Cd Acuña, Coahuila. That night marked the beginning of everything. Introduced by the popular radio host “Rafita” from Cd Acuña and with the support of a delegate from ANDA, Edgar Alberto began his music career singing Vicente Fernández’s hit “Lastima que seas ajena.” That night, he also performed other hits such as “La media vuelta,” “Tú Enamorado,” “Serenata Huasteca,” and “No Volveré,” delighting the audience. Over time, he became part of his mother’s show, singing alongside her at parties and events.

Early 2000s

Music has always been the heartbeat of my life—a powerful, unifying force that transcends borders, languages, and eras. I am a passionate singer and composer dedicated to the rich, soulful tradition of mariachi music. 

Mariachi, for me, is more than just a genre; it is a living heritage, a vibrant tapestry of history, culture, and human emotion. Through my compositions and performances, I strive to capture and convey the timeless essence of mariachi music, while infusing it with my own experiences and perspectives.

Having participated in numerous music competitions, I have had the honor of sharing my voice and my love for mariachi with diverse audiences. Each performance is a unique journey, a conversation between myself and the listener, where every note and lyric tells a story of love, sorrow, joy, and resilience.

I am continually inspired by the legacy of mariachi greats who have come before me, and I am committed to keeping this beautiful tradition alive and thriving. Through my music, I aim to celebrate our shared humanity and to connect hearts and souls across the world.
