I am a self taught artist. My beginnings came from many years of making hot hand made horse shoes as an AFA certified farrier. I turned my talents to sculpting after 16 years of farrier work. I have developed my line-sculpture technique. “It came from the need to have my hands on the piece from start to finish…to be able to put my heart and soul into it.” Since my beginnings in sculpture many years ago, I have also come to enjoy many other styles of creating art from direct hands on, one of kind metal pieces to traditional cast bronze works. I exhibit my work in galleries and shows across the country. My works of art are all over the United States and abroad. I have specialized in horses and wildlife over the years. I continue to blend my sculpting style with some human figurative works in my sculpture line Pick-Me Ups. “It’s incredible to see metal come to life. I love to see people walk up interact with a life-size piece or smile because the Pick-Me-Ups has touched there heart and just a short time ago it was cold hard steel” Esther Benedict

As a sculptor it is fascinating to look from a unique three dimensional angle and see how life just leaps out. It is in this looking that the vision comes. The vision is strong. In my mind the sculpture or piece is touchable and is already in the third dimension, I can look at it from all angle and imagine the finished art. It comes to me as a gift and it begs to be shared with others. Excitement fills my spirit and a powerful energy wells up and bursts forth through guided hands to deliver the gift. The vision becomes tangible as it develops into a cold still sculpture yet exudes the telling emotions that I feel. The strength and presence is alive here and the excitement continues to grow. As my hands move the clay or bend steel with flame, pushing, shaping and forming the sculpture as it takes on a life of its own. This is a vision welcomed to the earthly plane. And now I stand back with amazement. I welcome it with my eyes in awe of what has happened before me. There is one step further, to share the formed vision with another who with their eyes sees the soul and life of what was purely imagination not that long ago. The strength and longevity of theses sculptures will outlive me be enjoyed for years. In the viewing of these sculptures there is a touching of the souls, the experience of a common emotion with another, a chance to bring someone to the place where I have been to create this piece.
