Freddie Muñoz Jr. is a versatile, award-winning artist and multidisciplinary creator based in San Antonio, Texas. A graduate of the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA), he has built a distinguished career in television, film and music as a filmmaker, writer, producer, editor, composer, and multi-instrumentalist.
In film, Freddie handles every aspect of production—from writing, shooting and editing to original scoring and sound design. His debut student film, High Stakes, created as a college final project, went on to win multiple awards at film festivals nationwide. His most recent project, The Cowboy’s Eyes – Written By Jon Capraro, earned him Best Director honors and was selected as a featured entry at the Toronto International Film Festival.
As a musician, Freddie has been writing, performing, and producing since age 13. He has collaborated with artists across the U.S. and internationally, and his music has appeared in films, commercials, and sporting events. He fronts the band The Lost, whose signature fusion of rock, hip-hop, soul, and electronic elements has captivated global listeners. When I dive into a project—whether it’s a film, a piece of music, or a music video treatment—I fully submerge myself in its world. I want to absorb everything I can about the subject, the resources at hand, and the creative possibilities. I tune out the noise of everything else and let myself slip into a deep, almost meditative zone where ideas can flow freely.
It’s like traveling to another place inside my mind. The visuals, lyrics, story, or melody simply arrive—I become a conduit for them rather than their originator. In my experience, true artistic work doesn’t really belong to us; we’re just the vessels through which it passes, channeling something larger and more ethereal.
To invite that connection, I create intentional space: a late-night drive with the track on endless repeat, sitting quietly by candlelight in a dim room, or lingering outside beside a fire. In those moments of stillness and repetition, the piece reveals itself to me, almost as if it’s already complete and I’m simply listening for it.
