I was born in the beautiful country of Rwanda, the land of a thousand hills. My love for art began when I was in 3rd grade. My teacher asked me to draw for my entire class. Her belief in my vision even as a young boy, inspired me to create.

After moving to San Antonio when I was 16, my passion for art continued to grow and evolve. I studied art at UTSA and have been a full time artist for 3 years. I paint to tell my story and the stories of my home, Rwanda. My pieces are inspired by every day life, social justice and culture. For me, art is emotional expression. It allows me to connect with myself and with others.

When I’m not painting, you can find me outside: biking, hiking and exploring or fixing up my 1978 Toyota Chinook and traveling around the US while creating art.

MORE ABOUT THIS ARTIST

Artist Statement of Work

Tell us about your work (style, approach, philosophy, subject and/or theme):

When I create, my focus is the freedom that comes with the whole creative process. I let myself wonder with my thoughts and intuitions.
I start with an original idea and let that idea take me further.

Everyday I work to create something new as I adapt or react to ever changing experiences in my life. I strive to create work based on the
evolution of my ideas. I explore them without restricting myself on what the finished work of art will be or look like.

In my process, I’m just thinking about the present moment and what I’m feeling at the time. I live with the moo “free your mind and free
yourself” because creativity IS freedom.
