A professional dancer with over 30 years experience in the arts. I received a BA in Dance from the University of North Texas and then received MS in Health and Kinesiology. I started teaching in 2008 and have over 15 years experience with teaching. I taught for SAISD Young Women’s Academy and started the dance program there where it flourished into one of the districts best programs I taught there for 7 years as well as teaching for City of SA Parks and Recreations for 5 years. I am currently the Director for The Jewel of Art Dance Studio that has been the heart of the historical deco district for the past 7 years and continues to shine in the community. The Jewel of Art welcomes all ages from 18 months up to adults to learn all genres of dance such as ballet, jazz, modern, contemporary, hip hop and more, as well as showcasing their talents in local performances throughout San Antonio. I have had the privilege to put on spectacular events around the city such as winter dance shows, recitals, showcases, freestyle sessions, free dance day and more. I am very involved with the community and the arts in San Antonio and has had the opportunity to perform at The Battle of Flowers Parade (placing 1st under Amusements 2017), Deco Fest, Market Square Fiesta, Oysterbake, Princess Fest, Bidi Bidi Fest, Gridiron 300 years of laughter, San Antonio Film Festival( performed for Patrick Swayze family for the Patrick Swayze Tribute), Back to School Ads for Melrose Family Fashions, Dreamweek ... view more »

Artist Statement of Work
Tell us about your work (style, approach, philosophy, subject and/or theme):
I can teach all ages from 18 months up to adults to learn all genres of dance such as ballet, jazz, modern, contemporary, hip hop and more, as well as showcasing their talents in local performances throughout San Antonio. I have had the privilege to put on spectacular events around the city such as winter dance shows, recitals, showcases, freestyle sessions, free dance day and more. I am very involved with the community and the arts in San Antonio and has had the opportunity to perform at The Battle of Flowers Parade (placing 1st under Amusements 2017), Deco Fest, Market Square Fiesta, Oysterbake, Princess Fest, Bidi Bidi Fest, Gridiron 300 years of laughter, San Antonio Film Festival( performed for Patrick Swayze family for the Patrick Swayze Tribute), Back to School Ads for Melrose Family Fashions, Dreamweek Fashion Haute, Spurs Halftime, SA Fashion Awards, local artist music videos and much more. I like giving back to the community and have offered such events as Free Classes for National Dance Day, Free Adult Classes, Jewel Festival for the community and more. I would like to be the social platform for artists and dancers to be able to purse their dreams. There is so much talent in San Antonio and I would like to give them the opportunity to be seen. My goal is to put on events in SA to allow our talent to be Shine.
