I am a San Antonio based artist and I  present nature, thoughts, abstraction and tranquility in vibrant colors and mediums.

I have studied Master’s in Textile Design and Development from The National Institute of Fashion Technology in New Delhi, India, affiliated to Fashion Institute of Technology, New York. I moved to San Antonio in 2009 and started my art journey in 2017. I initially  worked for several years in the field of interior design and started my own Interior Design and Decor company, Kaur Competency LLC in San Antonio in 2014, Texas where we work with residential homes and boutique hotels. I added an art studio in 2017, called Baani Art, inspired by nature, thoughts, abstraction and current global situations that are expressed in vibrant colors and mediums. I have exhibited my works in New Jersey, Seattle, San Francisco, Washington, LA and San Antonio in USA. My latest exhibitions have been in Birmingham, UK (June) and Vancouver, Canada (September) in 2023 and Leicester, UK in March, 2024.
I love to travel and understand the values of different cultures and lifestyles. My inspirations are mainly derived from interactions with people, engaging with peers, the environment and our ever changing planet. I strive to experiment with different mediums and challenge the boundaries of colors. I am currently working on conversational artworks and expanding my art in San Antonio.

I now live in San Antonio, Texas with my husband and two sons, Darsh and Jeeve.

Artist Statement of Work

Tell us about your work (style, approach, philosophy, subject and/or theme):

The Portrait, 5'X5',  is a composition of oils on canvas, that narrates a universal link between an individual, their culture, and their community. There is an underlying sense of calmness between The Portrait and the gathering that surrounds the subject. The backdrop shows subtle depictions of cave art, as a respect to our history and our ancestors. I used the technique of  sfumato, where sharp lines are blurred by blended colors, in an effort to create a visual where the subject is a bright emergence of his environment. The sense of overall warmth and harmony is an invitation to the audience to pause, and gaze at the calmness of  the eyes that shows how we are an integral part of our history and our legacy.
