I was born in the province of Melchor Muzquiz in the northern state of Coahuila,
Mexico. On February 19, 1954. My parents were Don Roman Galan de la pena y Dona
Lucila Muzquiz Rodriguez. Rest in Peace.
It seems that love for painting runs in the genes of my family. I can say so,
because the high number of relatives with this talent or tendency. Its evident
that my genetic and artistic heritage finds its expression through different
media (Painting, photography, poetry,ceramics etc.) as part of the process of
self-identification and realization within the arts. Basically I am a
self-taught artist. I have been my own teacher for more than 40 years,
discovering within the versatility of my style different trends of painting as
geometrical, surrealism, abstract etc, and without having any preference I keep
experimenting all of them. It is worth mentioning the ability to draw since
childhood, where my most beloved subject was to create out of my imagination the
facades of modern houses. Here the child architect who enjoys the pleasure to
mold space through lines, angles and colors, which I interpret as the bridge to
understand cubism/geometrical. So it was geometry the science that helped me to create and
develop my own style, and it was literature, the art that increased the
interpretation of my own hieroglyphics. It was reading about the great modern
painters that gave me the feeling of confidence, a feeling of belonging to a

ART STATEMENT
Art is like the Ekstasies of the Greeks, in the sense of, "staying outside and beyond the self," in other words "to become the Homo Artisticus" in that paroxism of existence of being inside the bubble of "Time". Where the conjunction of present, past and future are synonyms of Eternal present
Being this mysterious triad "the now", the ethereal muse of my inspiration and exaltation to the Truth that life carries within its soul, and to that silent death who, "lives within," in the physical nature of organic & inorganic matter. Generating out of these polarities or complements, Life and Death... the scientific or mystical wisdom at the moment the Finitude of both worlds in its different stages.... Creation, Preservation, Decomposition and Disintegration is unveiled. Being these biological, philosophical or teological symbols the convergence of axioms, theories, dogmas and faith in myself, therfore to my Art.
It is this, my own truth, what induces my inspiration to rise myself little by little to a level of mastering de creation of perfection/Beauty within the originality in the style-quality factor exalted in my works to the present day, where the same anxiety co-exist in the cyclic superiority and internal refinement that only future and practice can mature. This self-imposed goal is what my Will undertakes to fulfill more determined and complex works of art.
It is my wish to express the slow process of integration as explorer of my genetic art, where the symbols, colors, forms, time and space are primordial philosophies in this special cosmic language as Art is in itself, where universal matter is the alchemy, and the art instruments are the medium to invoke the Eckstasies to its own expression. Where the art-ascendant sphere demands perfection in the consecution of all art works, and where the transcendence of truth in its own mysticism is needed as the key for the artist, poet or philosopher to complete or execute the works to its superlative degree, within an historical context of the aesthetic science.
