Hello, I’m Jen Marquart
I’m originally from Buffalo, NY where I grew up with the beauty of Niagara Falls and the Great Lakes in my backyard. After working 15 years as a forensic chemist in the mountains of Colorado and the beaches of Southern California, my work and environment became an undeniable inspiration to create. My photos from hiking trips turned into charcoal sketches and evolved to painting at home in an effort to recapture the magic and beauty of being in nature. Now as a San Antonian, I continue to be inspired by the blistering Texas summers, the unique plants and animals of South Texas and the surrounding deserts of the American southwest.
I’ve been fortunate to have lived in and travelled to a lot of places and here’s what I know to be true; we are all so curiously, uniquely, painfully, hysterically human. I am an entirely self-taught painter and mixed media artist and I hope you find my artwork honors the beauty that surrounds us as well as the human experience that connects us.
