Hello, my name is Jesse Torres and I am a canvas artist. I have been on disability since a car accident injured my back a few years ago. I love art since I was a kid and I got inspired by local artists who supported small businesses in my area. I have shown my artwork in some local galleries and magazines and also in a book. I paint with different mediums and styles, but my favorite ones are about my childhood memories. I like to capture the moments of backyard barbeques, bike rides, and street lights. My art reflects my city, my culture, and my family.
Artist Style: Dance; Literary: Documentary, Poetry, Slam; Music; Street Art: Surrealistic, Symbolic, Trompe l’oeil; Visual Art: Abstract, Contemporary, Dream Imagery/Ethereal, Environmental, Experimental, Expressionistic, Figurative, Illustrative, Landscape/Cityscape, Nature/Wildlife, Non-Objective, Photo Realistic, Photo-Based Painting, Political, Pop, Portraiture, Realism, Representational, Sacred/Liturgical Art, Site-Specific, Still Life
I use different mediums for my art, but my latest one is digital art. I enjoy the opportunities that technology gives me to make and communicate myself. What I appreciate the most is the open-source approach that enables me to learn from others and contribute my own skills. My main topic is our "Nuestra Madre Tonantzin", Our Mother Tonantzin, the Nahuatl name for the maternal aspect of any Aztec goddess. She symbolizes fertility, the earth, and the sacred feminine. I attempt to portray her spirit and respect her heritage in my digital artworks.
