Through a process of construction that is equal parts planned and improvised I strive to produce work that is at once interesting, visceral and complex. I do this through exploring diverse geometric themes through various sorts of material and construction processes. I’m interested in producing works that contain some amount of paradox, works simultaneously hard and soft, that can move outwards while also moving inwards. I intend and strive for my works to achieve long and beautiful thoughts. My influences on this front are musical and literary as I’m very interested in time as a carrier of goodness and beauty, and in sustaining an idea over a long period of time. I’m interested in producing work with clarity but work in which a single image or sculpture may not be grasped completely at once. I believe in and strive to produce work in which time spent in focused attention is rewarded.
