My creative tank never runs low, as I continuously aspire to be true to authentic expressions where I can reflect from a genuine place. I know anything I create, from paintings to visuals, I will be completely exposed. I believe art is my first creative and forceful language since an early age. It’s important to express the originality of the heart and fearlessly use art in my intentions, survival, and purpose as I create and share among the community. As a multi-media, and self-taught visual artist in San Antonio, I am inspired by my inner voice and vision, receptive to the community, multi-genre arts, people around me. Combining thoughts with emotion and textures bring my art and paintings to life. Utilizing any strengths, and often rolling the dice is a familiar practice as a creative risk-taker. My art varies in context and form because every art choice or medium has a unique reference to my life, thoughts, past experiences, future manifestation and personality dynamics. Expressing in multiple visual and media arts are vehicles to better engage with the viewer and continue to encourage me to produce new original works. Creating on unlimited platforms is an important part of my vision and voice as an eclectic artist. This has been a way of life for me since an early age from adolescent fears of nightmares to struggles with life’s adversities as an adult. My imagination recreates my space and state of mind. I’ve thrived on creative frenzies. After losing my mom to cancer when I was 22, I began living like my days were numbered. I went so far and thought, “What if I had died and came back, and today I have a second chance?” Art and expression are a human right, so I am not fearful when creating experimental art under Artist 77 for the Interactive Art series, titled, “Words and Reflections” or for the art film sound excerpts in progression, titled “Left of The Sun”. My response and looking for hope in the world around me as I struggled with life’s adversities has sparked enthusiasm in creating multi-media art in projection video film – excerpt, immersive and installation art, and interactive and art film exhibitions. I see myself using the arts as a rafter that I sometimes throw out to myself as a second person. It removes me into a recreated light where I can see a bigger picture or am painting a new realization that I can call my own. It’s my goal to inspire human connection, compassion and empathy by also celebrating diversity and the viewer’s inner self, surrounded in colorful and enlightening works of art. Earlier works include experiences in creative variety such as published photography, and hair styling for independent film under the Texas Film Commission and theatrical productions at Majestic Theatre and Ballet San Antonio. Participating in multiple arts as a female Latina artist with minimal resources was difficult, yet I proved myself and grew to be a self -taught visual artist in videography, creative art direction, and film/editor for music video for the San Antonio and ATX rock music scene. This was also a way for me to become a multi -genre creator as well as support performance artists and independent artists in Texas. This endeavor guided me into videography, and I aspire to further explore art film and expression. While navigating in the unknown without a mentor, team, and an influx of supporters, I’m ever grateful, as these hardships have empowered me, resulting in works of art I can say I’m proud of. I’ve been in situations with pen, paper, and doodles, sitting on the stairs, thinking I would never get to have the life I wanted and a limited future. I could only tell myself, “Stop feeling sorry for yourself. You have an imagination- one you can’t buy at a store or learn ‘how to’ from a book.” I’m grateful for the opportunities that have opened, as I’ve showcased art works throughout my city. This includes becoming a curator and host for pop up events, such as Modern Eclipse Art Space at Blue Star Arts Complex, and being a part of a premiere gallery, the San Antonio Artists Collective, from 2020 to 2024. I currently have a new studio I can call my own at the Historic Wong Building in South-town arts district for private showcases Anguiano Art, Studio 77.

Tell us about your work (style, approach, philosophy, subject and/or theme):

I often reveal my thoughts, feelings and perspectives of how I see the world around me in multiple art form. My ideals and expression content will vary from human emotion, inner power and the ability for one to create a new elevated space. Expressing through mixed media platforms is comforting to me because it leaves options to new artistic vision and possibilities. I like to create from a place of inner peace and well-being, because art has always nurtured and healed me like a best friend from anger and loss. I'm an eclectic artist and my expression can change like how every day the sun rises; it can present a new idea that shouldn't be overlooked. I often reflect on human behavior, to woman empowerment or celebrating diversity of all people. While I often create from deep reflections, I do not limit myself to create in a structure, I enjoy channels of color and playfulness in art and subject variety. My goal in my artwork is to always speak from a genuine and authentic place where sometimes beauty and vulnerability is observed. In this art my goal is to create connection with the viewer to better understand each other and grow in love, compassion and understanding.
