Being a cosmetic dentist for 29 years, I am intimately familiar with facial proportions and esthetic proportions in general, but creating ANYTHING makes me feel relevant and accomplished. I saw an Instagram post recently that stated, ” Something is wrong with me. Anytime I see something, I say to myself, ‘I can make that!’” That statement resonates with me. From turquoise covered cow skulls, cast metal jewelry, resin poured furniture, and sandstone floors, to creating beautiful smiles for my patients, each task has given me satisfying challenges. Canvas art is no different. I love transforming a photograph or idea to an image on canvas and observing the often unexpected and surprising changes my mind makes to the finished product. I’m very relaxed with abstract art, but I always crave creating the details. Therefore, my favorite style is a little of both – abstract realism.
Artist Type: Visual Arts: Painter
Artist Style: Visual Art: Abstract, Figurative, Realism, Still Life
I am most relaxed while creating abstract art. I do, however, find myself longing to create details in a painting. My favorite style incorporates the freeness of abstract painting with the structured style of realism. Figurative painting is also close to my heart because it uses my honed talents of proportional recognition from being a dentist for 29 years.
