Maggi Peachey lives and works in San Antonio, Texas. She was always encouraged to be creative and try new mediums by family. Art and nonprofit service runs in her family. Her grandmother was one of the founding members of the Fiber Artists of San Antonio which was formed 50 years ago. Despite having a passion for art, Maggi pursued an education in Business and received her Master’s degree in 2017. Starting in 2006 she worked her way up the ladder of a national drug store for ten years starting off as a cashier and ending up as the Office Manager for the home health division. Maggi then became a Certified Compliance Officer and worked for an independent pharmacy before deciding to take a big risk.
In 2018 she quit working full-time to pursue a career as an artist. “I just woke up and realized one day that this type of work is not what I want to be doing for the rest of my life.” She formed her own legal entity, Peachey Creative Works LLC, to legitimize being an independent artist. Since then, Maggi has launched a printmaking subscription plan, made and sold paintings, taught beginner painting classes, led a summer teen art camp (with Spare Parts), designed graphics, websites, and other concepts for nonprofit organizations.

Tell us about your work (style, approach, philosophy, subject and/or theme):
Maggi Peachey is a self-taught artist born and raised in San Antonio, Texas. Her focus in art is depicting personal narratives, memories, and observations to create a lasting legacy and to connect emotionally with viewers. She uses painting, block printing, and 3D figures/assemblage to express these ideas. She often gravitates towards using bright and vibrant color pallets as a result of being raised in a festive city that is not afraid of bold colors.
