Born in Hammond Indiana, Michelle Michael has been a photographer from the very first photo she took at the age of 5.

Romans 1:20 is what drives my work.  I feel called to share the beauty and intricacies in nature.

A hippie born in the wrong time and a lover of all things in nature Michelle has traveled extensively in the natural world.  “Beauty can be found anywhere and it is my gift to share it with others”. “Everyday something catches my eye that I must capture and share.

This life long passion led her to become an Artist in Residence at the Indiana Dunes National Park as well as many small coffee shops and community meetings to show the art and beauty around us and discuss the environment.  Michelle was also recently featured in the South Shore Gallery 79th Annual Salon Show.

Having travelled 49 of the 50 states as well as Canada, Mexico and Portugal have just given a small piece of the world to see.

I would consider my work “abstract nature” and I do not edit my photos.  Other than cropping or enlarging the images are as I see them in nature.

After spending the last 15 years as a military spouse and stay home parent I know have the time to pursue my passion.  Photography is always on my mind and not a day goes by that I don’t think of a plan or a show or see a shot that I must capture.

I especially like to print my photos large scale and on aluminum.  I feel metal prints bring out the colors and textures that I try to emphasize.

Artist Statement of Work

Tell us about your work (style, approach, philosophy, subject and/or theme):

Romans 1:20 is what drives my work.  It is my calling to share the beauty and intricacies of nature.  Beauty can be found everywhere and I believe it is my gift to capture and share it with others.  This is a lifelong passion that has led me to photograph and discuss God's work within our natural environment.

Most of my work may be considered abstract nature and I am especially drawn to water.

Each photo is unedited ,except to crop and enlarge for printing, and is captured as God intended.

After spending the last 15 years as a military spouse and stay home mom, I now have the time to pursue my passion.  Photography is always on my mind.  Not a day goes by that I don't think of a plan, or a gallery show idea, or see a shot that I must capture.

Joy for me comes from others seeing God's work in my photography.

Since the beginning of the world God's invisible qualities can be clearly seen in his creation.
