I grew up about 45 minutes from the border in Crystal City, Texas. Where I was from, pretty much everyone was Mexican American. I loved television and film growing up but noticed there wasn’t much representation for me or the people around me. From there, I gained a passion and goal for giving us and people like us a space on people’s screens to give a peek into our unique circumstances and culture while still being able to appeal to anyone viewing.
Artist Style: Visual Art: Illustrative; /comedy and Drama in Film
I like my work to begin with a core theme that branches out into ideas that work through the characters. The projects will have their leanings and interpretations, but never tell the viewer how to think. I always appreciated work that worked liked a sort of Rorschach test and open up discussion for everyone and strive to have mine do the same. I also like to have a visual style that accentuates the emotion the scene is trying to portray through lighting, framing, and even distance. I find my most common theme is seeing how much pressure different natures of a relationships can break or bend from, be they familial, romantic, communal, etc.
