Patricia Zamora is a multifaceted storyteller living in San Antonio, Texas. Named one of The San Antonio Current’s top actors for 2021, she has been touring with the Holiday Hit, Las Nuevas Tamaleras for nine years. As a playwright, her works include; The Chismosa Mysteries: A Deadly Venom and Un Nuevo Capitulo: An American Novela. In 2019 she was Artist in Residence at The Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center for her solo show Curanderas & Chocolate: Cuentos of a Latina Life. Her piece The Sandia will be featured in the anthology, Somos Tejanas to be published by UT Press. As a voice actor for Audible Parade Productions, her projects include; Triple Six and One for the Road. When Patricia was a child in rural South Texas, she would lay in the grass and read the stories in the clouds. This would nurture her creative spirit and deep appreciation for her culture, which she strives to honor in her writing. She has a BA in Theater from St. Edward’s University and a Masters degree, from the University of Texas Pan American.

Tell us about your work (style, approach, philosophy, subject and/or theme):

I feel so strongly the need to create and share stories. This is my way to honor my ancestors and so many interesting real life characters that have and continue to influence my journey. It is a privilege to highlight and celebrate my beautiful culture. Doing this feeds and releases my creative spirit. We all have different experiences as humans. I want to feature the commonalities in our culture and not the differences. Together we can change the world and heal.
