Originally from Houston, Patrick Farris is an artist living and working in San Antonio. His work explores family, place, spirituality, and identity through photography, language, and object making. He maintains a regular studio practice working with traditional darkroom processes and with other mediums and materials.
While I work primarily in traditional darkroom photography, I borrow from literature, sacred texts, sculpture, bookmaking, printmaking, textile arts, and sound to make work that strives to be emotionally rich and conceptually complete. I am inspired by words, material, ephemera or everyday objects, and craft traditions.
