I’m Patrick Malec. I was born and raised on San Antonio. I currently reside and have lived in San Antonio for most of my life. I have done a lot of things in life from working in many service based industries such as hospitality, medical, and food services, to my artistic endeavors in filmmaking, photography, and graphic design.
I have attended (but not completed) a few colleges for film/video, taking a wholistic approach to the process of filmmaking. I attended Santa Fe University of Art and Design in Santa Fe, New Mexico, University of North Texas, and Northwest Vista College. Alongside my academic experience, I have worked to gain on-the-ground experience producing advertising material for local businesses, documentary material for local church organizations, and producing video marketing material for local media marketing agencies.
I have been a business owner for four years as a residential house cleaner servicing residents and businesses in the San Antonio metropolitan area, as well as the surrounding areas of the city. This has been a rewarding field as it has not only supported me, but I have gotten to know some amazing people who I have had the pleasure of building long lasting relationships with.
Overall, I have been told that I am a multi-disciplinary person who has his hands in many baskets and is willing to experiment to achieve both entrepreneurial and artistic goals in independent and collaborative settings.

My artistic philosophy, like most people, is influenced by a large number of people and movements. The medium that I have expressed myself the most through has been filmmaking. A few big names that have influenced my style have been filmmakers such as David Fincher, Denis Villenueve, Hayao Miyazaki, and many more.
I believe the biggest aspect of my style, frankly, is that I am not beholden to a specific one. I draw from a large pool of influences, and the main through line that I see with all of them is that they focus on story. Ensuring that whatever the story is, whether horror, drama, comedy, documentary, that the story being told dictates the style of everything else being presented. Story truly is above all. You could say then that I try to be a chameleon, shifting approaches and style to fit the narrative that is the focus of the piece. I suppose to distill this idea into a signal sentence, story is my style. Story is king. Everything else must fall to the wayside in service of it.
